Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined (Live from Mexico City) is coming to cinemas and IMAX®. The sold out stadium show was captured with over 20 cameras and a separate documentary unit following the band around before, during, and after their 65,000 capacity concert in February 2025.
My name is Mark and for the last 16 years I have been touring with Twenty One Pilots as their creative director, writer, videographer, and video producer.
Most of that time together was dedicated to telling their stories from the road. With my footage from on and off the stage, we created a web series for each new trip around the world. The series highlighted the fans first and foremost while also documenting the growth the band experienced over the years of touring as much as possible.
Their songs were always meant to be experienced live. It is an honor to be in charge of capturing Twenty One Pilots in many ways, but these live edits are always the most rewarding.
With each new album came a handful of music videos that we kept in-house when we could. Tyler would have an idea for a visual representing the feelings he captured in these songs and would rely on me to translate them into locations and shot lists. We edited together - the band saw it through to the final render.
Bigger songs meant bigger budgets, sometimes bringing in partners to help us out. The band and I would write the treatment and I would work alongside the new teams to see our vision through. I found importance in being there to answer the many questions behind our fantasy world Tyler, Josh, Brandon Rike (art director, creative partner), and myself created over the years that themed the later albums. On these outsourced shoots I would capture the process to make a video out of the making of the video.
As Twenty One Pilots takes some time off the road I am excited to see how I can bring my obsession with intimate storytelling to other artists who love their fans and want to connect with them through video. It is a medium that means nothing if it isn’t from the heart.
